HISTORY OF ZAKLADY AZOTOWE "PULAWY" SA
The seventies
1971
In 1971 the factory was granted permission for building a caprolactam production line as a part of „Wlokna Poliamidowe” unit. It was a new factory with the effectiveness of 50 thousand ton of caprolactam a year. Production facilities of caprolactam, hydroxylamine sulfite and ammonia sulfite was based on the license of the Swiss company “Inventa AG”. Production of caprolactam based on our own „know-how” patented together with ZA “Tarnow” and Institute of Industrial Chemistry.

1977
In connection with the development of melamine resin and varnishes production, in the early 70's there were plans to build large and modern production plant for melamine made of urea. Zaklady Azotowe “Pulawy” were well prepared for the project because they had 80% share in national production of urea. Building contract for the plant was signed with Austrian companies: Voest-Alpine and Chemie Linz. Construction started in 1975 and the first product came out in 1977.

Production of melamine and caprolactam is regarded as one of the most complex technological processes in Chemical industry.
